KerreraSkye knitting

I recently received a lovely email about my blog from Wilma in Scotland who mentioned her daughter, Shirley's Etsy store called KerreraSkye which is brimming with beautifully knitted treasures. I love the colour combinations which on a wintry evening are so cosy to look at - the capelet below is a favourite for me. Plus if you head to the blog there is a corsage giveaway happening this week!

Andrea Williamson

Am in love with these beautiful knitted designs by Andrea Williamson of the Shetland Islands, UK. A touch of winter has arrived today making me in the mood to sit with a cuppa and one of her beautiful blankets over my knees.

Farewell summer

When I was in highschool it was decidedly uncool to be into crafts and my friend Kirsty and I were secretly heading off to Stitches and Craft shows and indulging in cross stitch and patchwork on the weekends (crazy days indeed). At the time we seriously considered where knitting lay in our priorities and decided that we would start to cast on when we turned 30.

Well the 30 milestone has passed and I am still yet to embrace knitting as much as I'd love to - maybe a winter in Melbourne will do the trick? If I did decide to take it up I'd definitely be seeking a needle holder from Cath Kidston and a pattern book from Rowan which as anyone knows whose been to the knitting section at Liberty is where the wool is to die for! (p.s. just saw the new Liberty women's and accessories halls that have just been unveiled - somebody get me on a plane!!). Picture of their 'scarf hall' below...

A pig, a chicken and a frog walk into a shop...

...there's no punch line but these finger puppets look like they are up to mischief - I am not sure what happens when Lyssy May's doors are closed but I think that frog is the ringleader. These animal finger puppets are knitted by the lovely Judy (who I met through my hairdresser!). Her work is so lovely and and I am always eager to see what she has produced for the shelves of Lyssy May. I think the adults who visit the store have just as much fun role playing with the puppets as the little ones do!

Got knits? (but in a good way)

Today I had a wonderful batch of knitting delivered by a talented local lady who churns out woolen masterpieces like this colourful small throw rug (for those with nana tendancies: aka knee rug). I am thinking 'ideal gift for mother's day' is an appropriate descriptor here, or maybe just ideal for the couch and cocoa at the first sign of a frosty day.
